Lavender Simple Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 tbsp dried lavender buds (about 3/4 of our tin)
Instructions
- Combine water, sugar, and lavender in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer until sugar is fully dissolved.
- Cover and remove from heat, allow to cool, and steep for at least an hour. The longer the steeping, the more flavor will be infused into your syrup. Steep to the point that you think it is perfection for your taste.
- Strain the lavender and pour it into a glass jar (like a mason jar).
Lavender simple syrup and the smoke infusion from your cocktail smoker is a perfect take on another version of the old fashioned!
How to Make a Smoked Lavender Old Fashioned
- 2 oz bourbon or rye whiskey
- 1/4 oz simple syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 orange peel
- Lavender buds for smoking
Steps to Make the Cocktail:

Combine the bourbon or rye whiskey, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters in a mixing glass. Stir well to combine.

Add ice to the mixing glass and continue stirring until the mixture is well-chilled.

Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass filled with ice.

Place your cocktail smoker on top of the glass and add a pinch of lavender buds to the smoke chamber.

Use your butane torch to light the lavender buds. Keep covered for at least 30 seconds, up to a minute. The longer the smoke is covered, the stronger the infusion.

Garnish with an orange peel, expressing the oils over the cocktail before placing it in the glass.
